After several busy months of work, the moment has finally arrived. The DuckyWood website began as a simple concept in 2021, created to introduce Habbos to the vision behind DuckyWood. Over time, the council expanded its capabilities, adding new features and content to enhance the experience. This next iteration introduced an interactive map, invoicing for activity checks, giveaways, and a variety of other tools that helped shape the community.

Today marks a significant milestone. We’ve reached what I believe is the most refined and forward‑looking version of DuckyWood to date. The previous platform, DuckyWood v4.0 (circa 2023), served us well, but its underlying codebase could no longer support the growing needs of the community. This prompted a thoughtful and comprehensive redesign, resulting in the launch of DuckyWood v5.0.

This new version introduces a wide range of features and improvements. Below, I’ll highlight the core functionalities, and from there, I encourage you to explore and discover everything the new DuckyWood has to offer.

Feature 1 - Unified Inbox

The Unified Inbox now provides a centralized hub where you can quickly see everything new happening across DuckyWood. View the latest global announcements from the council, catch up on recently published articles, and stay informed about active giveaways. All from one convenient location.

You’ll also notice a new Friends tab. That’s right: you can now add fellow residents to your friends list. More details on this feature are outlined below.

The Moderation tab has also been introduced. At DuckyWood, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment is a top priority. Ideally, this section will remain empty for you. However, if it appears populated, it means a moderator has issued a warning, applied a temporary sanction, or, in more serious cases, placed a ban.

And yes… invoices have returned. As before, invoices serve as a way to verify your activity within DuckyWood. If you own a lot, be sure to pay your invoice promptly. Timely payments earn you more feathers than late ones, so staying on schedule truly pays off.

Feature 2 - Private Instant Messenger

DuckyWood now features its own built‑in messenger. A highly requested addition designed to support residents who may not use Discord. This provides a convenient alternative communication option available to all residents.

As always, we encourage everyone to communicate responsibly. Please avoid sharing any personal information with others. If at any point a resident feels uncomfortable or encounters inappropriate behavior, a reporting tool is integrated directly into the chat window. Submissions are reviewed by a moderator, who will assess the conversation history and determine the appropriate next steps.

Feature 3 - Article Comments / Reactions

Article reading is now more interactive than ever. Residents can engage in discussions directly related to each article or share their reactions with the community. This enhancement is designed to foster stronger connections and encourage meaningful conversation across DuckyWood.

As with the private messaging system, all comments include a built‑in reporting option. If you encounter behavior that feels inappropriate, please use the reporting tool. A council member or moderator will review the context of the comment and determine the appropriate course of action.

Feature 4 - Ducky Homes

DuckyWood is introducing a modern reimagining of a classic early‑Habbo feature: Ducky Homes. This marks the first full iteration of the system, allowing residents to leave comments on one another’s homes through the Guestbook and view any awards a resident has earned. While a limited version of Ducky Homes existed in DuckyWood v4.0, this release expands the concept significantly—most notably with the arrival of stickers. Residents can now browse a wide selection of stickers in the Web Store, including seasonal collections that will rotate throughout the year.

With this update, the feathers currency now has meaningful utility across the platform. Residents can use feathers to purchase special backgrounds, avatar backgrounds, and stickers, and to customize both their desktop and mobile Ducky Home layouts.

One note: for the best experience, we recommend decorating your Ducky Home on a computer rather than a mobile device.

Feature 5 - Games

DuckyWood now features daily minigames designed to keep residents engaged and rewarded. DW+ members get additional daily quotas.

Spin the Daily Wheel each day for a chance to earn feathers or unlock special items such as DW+ Membership or limited‑edition stickers.

We’re also excited to introduce Matchwood, a refreshed take on the classic Habbo minigame that appeared briefly in the past. Progress through increasingly challenging levels and compete with fellow residents for top positions on the weekly and monthly leaderboards. High‑ranking players will be compensated with feather rewards. In a pickle? Purchase power ups with your feathers to help you on a level.

If you exceeded your free daily games for Matchwood, you will have the opportunity to play additional games for a nominal fee paid in feathers.

Matchwood is currently a single‑player experience, though multiplayer functionality may be explored in the future.

Feature 6 - Timezone Support

Event announcements and competition deadlines published through DuckyWood will now automatically adjust to reflect your preferred time zone. This removes the need to calculate event times on your own or convert from our global system time. Once you set your time zone in your User Settings, all event schedules displayed on the website will update accordingly, ensuring you always see the correct start and end times.

Feature 7 - User-Driven Map Updates

DuckyWood used to release map updates only once a quarter. A process that became slow, resource‑heavy, and left residents waiting far too long for changes to appear.

Starting today, everything gets an upgrade. Map updates are now powered by you. Residents can refresh their street map image anytime and even showcase their lot with an interior image.

Just finished a remodel? Ready to show off improvements? Decorated your yard for a holiday? Submit your updated street map image whenever inspiration strikes and enjoy dramatically faster approvals. No more waiting for the next scheduled update. Your street stays current on your timeline. All residents residing on the same street have the ability to update the street map image.

If you own more than one lot, no problem. You have the ability to manage your lots and street images in one location . All this can be found on the Property tab on your Settings page.

All image submissions will be reviewed by the DuckyWood Council. To ensure a smooth approval process, make sure your image is cleanly formatted and fully compliant with community guidelines.

This is just scratching the surface of what the new DuckyWood is all about. Feel free to explore at your own leisure and discover new features that haven't been mentioned above! As with any new release, there are bound to be a few bugs. If you discover any, please use the Feedback / Report a Bug link found at the footer of any DuckyWood page. Or, if you find that a feature would be a great addition, use the same form to suggest your idea! You never know, we might incorporate your idea right into the site.

Huge shoutout to the following users (in no particular order) whose creativity, feedback, and enthusiasm helped bring the new DuckyWood project to life in a big way:

I just want to say the fact that you have accomplished making a customizable homepage with backgrounds and stickers is truly incredible. Well done and honestly it is sad that we don't already have this feature in base game Habbo.
